Still singing tshirt design

This was based on a classic pose from a classic movie.  A big thank you to Mr Gene Kelly and his now legendary performance in 'Singin' in the Rain' (1952).  So to create this I took a picture of a skeleton from an anatomical text book, cut out the upper arms, lower arms, shins, thighs, hands, and feet.  I then posed them roughly over a picture of Gene Kelly.  The skull came from an awesome illustration which I found somewhere on Abduzeedo (One of the best sources of inspiration I have ever come across, excluding the shower).  The hat, glasses, and brolly are also random pictures which I positioned with the rough skeleton.  The next stage was to work over the whole image painting over everything in fine detail.  This took the longest but was also the most satisfying and allowed me to play with a greater sense of depth and layout which areas would be hit by the light.  The rain came from adding noise, heavily editing the levels which left only a few spots of light then using the wind effect to stretch them into a rain like pattern.  Finally I found a free brush set of splashes and laid out each one individually.  The type came later and I used one which I believe was used in several posters advertising concerts by the Rat Pack or Frank Sinatra.  Where ever it may have been used, it definitely hold the look of that period in time and style.  And that's the most time I've ever invested in an illustration!
