How to make someone (me!) make your motion graphic

To begin making a motion graphic you'll need three things worked out.

The aim, the content, and the style.

The aim is the general message you want to convey.
More specifically - the message you want your target market to hear.
Having a clear aim and market will help immensely.

The content is exactly, word for word, what you want to say.
Generally the quicker and more concise you can be - the better.
Once production has begun this is an expensive thing to change, so be sure you've got it right.

The style is how the video looks in your mind.
The clearest way of showing me this is to have examples.
Spend some time looking through the things other people have done, it might even give you some new ideas.

So, with these things in place, the production can begin.

In the first stage we'll talk about your video - it's aim, it's content and it's style, just to make sure I'm thinking what you're thinking.  From here I'll draw up a story board, a sequence of drawings that roughly show what the final video will look like.  This is your chance to jump in and mix things round.  Once you're happy, the final video will go into production - by this stage I should have an idea of time and cost.  Also, throughout the development I'll keep a record of working hours which I can provide if you'd like.

And, that's it.
You have your very own motion graphic.
